The Fast & Easy Solution To Fix Excel Errors

As always when tying to address or repair errors and problems with a component program within the Microsoft Office suite, there are several options as to what you can do to fix them.
The key question relates to the amount of time, effort and money that you want to expend on making good these repairs, assuming that they are repairs that must be made.
You can do the job the ‘old-fashioned’ way, manually. That is however likely to be tedious, difficult and extremely time consuming and time is money, especially if you are trying to fix a PC that is used in a business environment.
The second option is to buy a repair software program that is specific to repairing errors within ‘Excel’. This will definitely save a whole lot of time over ‘option 1’ but still may not be the ideal solution to the problem.
The reason for saying this is that all of the programs that together make up the Microsoft Office suite naturally share a good degree of common functionality. If a conflict with another program is at the root of your ‘Excel’ errors, then it is quite possible that similar errors will show up in other Office component programs, meaning that you have to buy additional software to fix those.
Far better to, first run a free scan test with a high-quality ‘system scan’ program like RegCure to find and isolate all the problems that your machine is currently suffering from.
You can then use the same software program to fix every problem and potential error at one fell swoop, in less than five minutes.
So, using RegCure will get rid of all problems and errors that currently exist, as well as finding many potential problems that might arise at some point further down the line.
It’s efficient, effective and simple to use something like RegCure, so it comes highly recommended.

Common Microsoft Excel Errors

The first thing to note when looking at this question is that sometimes ‘Excel’ (and other programs within Microsoft Office, such as ‘Word’) will show error messages that are simply not true!
For example, it is not uncommon to see a message that says something like ‘“There isn’t enough memory or disk space to open excel” when you first try to open the program, which is generally going to mean that it will not, in fact, open.
Now, whilst this may, in an extreme case, possibly be true of a very old PC with very limited memory capacity, it is highly unlikely to be the case if your PC is less than five years old, and running a reasonably current version of Windows O/S (e.g. XP) and Microsoft Office.
In this situation, your machine certainly does have enough memory and disk space, but the chances are that another program is using them! In other words, Excel is running into a conflict with another program, and the standard Office error reporting system is giving you the answer that is nearest to the truth!
Furthermore, ‘Excel’ has pretty much been the de facto ‘King’ of the spreadsheet world for over ten years now, and so, there are hundreds, if not thousands of after-market programs and systems that you can use to ‘tweak’ or ‘modify’ the original program.
Whilst this can lead to vastly expanded functionality and increased flexibility, it almost certainly increases the potential for serious errors to occur in this core component of the Microsoft Office system.
It is thus remarkably easy to create a set of circumstances where ‘Excel’ program errors become almost inevitable.
Without knowing it, of course, every time you download or buy a new software program, you introduce an ‘interloper’ onto your machine that may (or may not) disagree with any or all of the Microsoft Office programs, and ‘Excel’ often seems to be especially vulnerable to such errors.

Microsoft Excel Errors

Introduction To Microsoft Excel Errors
‘Excel’ is a program that is part of the Microsoft Office program of suites that the vast majority of people around the World use each and every day, if they use a PC for their work or leisure.
Excel, or Microsoft Office Excel, to give it the full name, is a spreadsheet application written and distributed by Microsoft for use with both Microsoft Windows (on PC’s) and the Mac OS (for Apple Mac machines).
It features excellent calculation and graphing tools that, along with a fairly aggressive marketing effort on the part of Microsoft, have made Excel one of the most popular microcomputer applications to date. It is overwhelmingly the dominant spreadsheet application available for these platforms.
Basically, therefore, we have two facts to consider.
First, most people who ever need to use a spreadsheet program will turn to the Excel component of the Microsoft Office program suite.
And, second, like all programs, ‘Excel’ sometimes goes wrong, and errors occur.
This article will investigate some of those errors, the reasons why they occur (or, even, if they really occur at all) and what you can do to fix the problems.

What Dangers Do I Face If I Have These Symptoms?

What Dangers Do I Face If I Have These Symptoms?
The most dangerous outcome would be a complete system crash. This is something no one wants to see especially if none of their data have been backed up. One day you start your computer and BAM your pc crashes. You try restarting to no avail.
Then you try to start in safe mode.. this also leads you to no where. The only thing you can do is reinstall the complete windows operating system. It’s hard to believe a small software application would have prevented this scenerio isn’t it. It can!
Protect Your PC Now With RegCure!
Don’t take a chance and let all of those symptoms add up. Your PC is very valuable to you, or at least you should feel it is. Would you skip an oil change on your car?

Optimize Window’s Registry

What Exactly Is The Windows System Registry
The windows registry is nothing more than an organized way of storing the vital information your system uses regularly so it can access it in less time and more efficiently.
Editing The Windows registry yourself is a lot harder than you may think. The Windows registry is the most important part of Windows, and if it gets damaged, your whole system would get corrupted and impossible to use.
Manually customizing the Windows Registry takes some knowledge and familiararity with configuration files. Most people don’t feel comfortable with editing the Registry, which is understandable. Because of this, programs have been developed that can assist you in cleaning and optimizing the Windows Registry automatically.
The Symptoms Of A Corrupt Registry
There are several symptoms that your system displays which tells you that you have a corrupt registry. Some computers display several of these symptoms while others only some. The degree in which your computer displays these symptoms is dependant on the degree of registry corruption you may have.
1) Slow Running Software Programs: This is one of the most widely reported symptoms of a corrupt registry. Opening documents, switching between programs and the like takes longer and longer to occomplish leading to massive frustration.
2) Computer Screen Freeze: Yet another popular annoyance. Most screen freezes happen when you switch between programs or try to exit a program.
3) Random Error Messages: This one is the scariest of the lot mainly because the messages are very hard to interpret. An example would be the ever popular “Blue Screen Of Death” memory dump error screen.
4) Slow PC Shutdown and/or Startups: Nothing can be more aggrevating than waiting 10 minutes for your pc to fire up to begin working. The same holds true for shutting down. 5-10 minute waits are not uncommon.

Upgrading your RAM

Upgrading your RAM
Most computer users would upgrade their RAM after using their computers for a number of years. If you think that your RAM is not up to date, then maybe it is time to get a new one. By upgrading your RAM, it will give your computer more memory. As such, you will no longer have problems of laggy computers that take ages load a certain program. Upgrading your RAM memory does not take much time and money. However, only do this if you found out that the RAM memory is affecting your computer process speed.
False entries can also result in problems in the registry. This is because your computer makes and deletes entries from the registry. And not forgetting nasty spywares that leave loads of thrash even after they are successfully removed. So, make sure that you do frequent virus scans, and have a registry cleaner installed to equip your computer with the right security.
Lose the habit of having multiple programs
Multi-tasking is a common trait among us computer users. So many things to complete at the same time! You might have the media player playing while you are typing on Microsoft Word and referring to the data from the Excel sheet, with your Yahoo and MSN messenger signed on. Phew.
That’s a load of things you have in your hands. It is not a wonder that your computer is unable to work at is tiptop speed. Remember, each computer has their own set of abilities. Do not overestimate their abilities, or it will just leave you frustrated and stressed out.

Make Computer Go Faster

The Importance Of Maintaining Your Computer
You might have a new computer, but if you fail to maintain it, you can say good-bye to its high-speed performance. There are plenty of reasons why your computer is running slowly. Sometimes, you realize that it can get pretty laggy and your programs might even freeze unexpectedly.
And to add up with your frustration, annoying error messages will soon start popping up although the programs that you are running has got nothing to do with it. Well, unless you are ready to part with your money, you’d probably wonder what in the world is going on with your brand-new-turned-laggy computer. “How to make my computer go faster?” I have the answers right here for you.
Computer’s Registry. What’s that?
Don’t knock yourself on the head for not knowing what the computer registry is. In fact, this component is not really known among computer users. The computer registry contains files (aka registry keys) that will tell your computer and its hardwares how they should run.
Files might go missing or get corrupted if the computer is used in the long run. This will then cause the computer to process at a slow rate. You will need to overcome the problem immediately to prevent your computer from drastically slowing down further. All you have to do is to get a cleaner software that will help to scan through you computer system and spot on errors that might be present.

Final Clean Up… The Most Important Step!
Once you have rid your system of unwanted SpyWare and AdWare, it is important to make sure your system registry is clean. How so? By using RegCure! RegCure will finish the job by fixing any corruptions SpyWare may have caused to your system registry in 2 minutes flat!

Step 1: Remove All Unnecessary Files

Step 1: Remove All Unnecessary Files
Automatic Removal: A quick way to remove unnecessary files from your computer is by using the “Disc Clean Up” feature already installed. To do this, click “Start.” Then, go to “All Programs,” and “Accessories.” Find “System Tools” and then “Disc Clean Up.”
By clicking this, a box will appear asking you which drive you want to clean. Normally, this is your (C:) drive. Click “Ok.” Now, a box has come up explaining which folders can safely be cleaned, and how much space you will free. Click “Ok” at the bottom, and then “Yes” to remove these files.
Manual Removal: To manually remove unnecessary files from your computer, as this is often what triggers the collection of even more spyware, follow the steps below.
1) Start by opening “My Computer”2) Double click “Local Disc (C:)”3) Double click “Documents and Settings”
Next, double click the folder that you use. This may be “Owner,” “Administrator,” or it may simply be your name.
Double click “Local Settings.” If you do not see “Local Settings” it may be because your computer is set to hide these folders. You can change this setting by clicking “Tools” at the top, then by clicking “Folder Options…” Then, click the “View” tab. Scroll down until you see “Show Hidden Files and Folders.” Then, click “Apply.” This should show you folders that were not previously shown.
Normally there are three folders here that you can clean. They are History, Temp, and Temporary Internet Files. Since IE7 has been released, there is an option to have History and Temporary Internet Files deleted each time you close your browser. If this is the case, you will only see the “Temp” folder, and an “Applications” folder.
Double click the “Temp” folder and delete anything inside. Note that some of these may not delete right away. The programs that have placed these temp files here may still be using them. It will tell you if they can be deleted or not. Once all of the “Temp” files are deleted, you can click the “Back” button and repeat that process with the “History” and “Temporary Internet Files” folders (if they are there).
Another folder that commonly stores temporary files is called “Prefetch.” This folder can be found in the main Window’s folder. It is not recommended that you open any other folders in the Window’s folder due to causing damage to your system.
1) Start by opening “My Computer”2) Double click “Local Disc (C:)”3) Double click “Windows”
Find the “Prefetch” folder and double click. Delete all files in this folder. If you do not see the “Prefetch” folder, follow the instructions above to “Show Hidden Files and Folders.”
As with anything you remove from your computer, the things you delete go directly to the Recycle Bin. To empty, right click on the “Recycle Bin” icon, and click “Empty Recycle Bin.”

Introduction To Adware & Spyware

Spyware and Adware are exactly what their names implies. They are merely software that gets implanted on your computer that spies on your activity and then serves you ads (usually in the form of pop-ups) associated with the content you are viewing.
For instance, let’s say you are shopping for shoes and visit a famous shoe store website. The “spyware” or “adware” sees you are shopping for shoes, and then pops up an advertisement for shoes. The makers of these malicious programs make money from the ads from the advertisers, who often do not realize how their ads are being served!
But it goes far beyond just advertising. Some spyware programs can monitor every keystroke you make on your computer… collecting all of this information such as logins and passwords and then seamlessly sends this information back to them via YOUR email client all without you knowing. Pretty scarey eh?
Is there something you can do about it? Thankfully yes! Let’s discuss a few ways you can protect yourself.

Back Up Your Data Today

Before we talk about how to backup your PC, we need to talk about WHAT to backup on your PC. First, you have to determine how much space you need in order to choose an effective backup solution built to suit your needs. No one backup solution is right for everyone.
First, if you save everything into your “My Documents” folder, it makes backing up really simple. You can even make a “downloads” folder in your “My Documents” folder to save things you download.
You can simply open your “My Documents” folder and click “Edit” and then Click “Select All”. Next, right click on a file or folder and click on “Properties”. This will show you your file size (Mine is 10.5GB so you can see a 1GB flash drive or 700MB CD would not work without multiple disks).Using The Windows Backup & Restore Utility
For those more experienced pc users, another option would be to utilize the windows backup and restore utility. Although this may sound a bit overwhelming, the process isn’t as difficult as one would imagine.Other Things To Backup
Here are a few search terms to help you find other things to back up in order to remain Windows Version independent.
Favorites – Search your C: drive for “favorites” (open the folder to make sure it contains your favorites)
Bookmarks (FireFox) – Search for “bookmarks.html” (open the file to make sure it contains your bookmarks)
Outlook Express – Search for “Outlook Express”. This will find a folder. Open the folders and make sure it contains your E-mail folders. If you have never created subfolders in Outlook Express (OE), now would be a good time to so that you can find your e-mail to back it up. If you create a folder called “test” in OE, it will be in the appropriate folder as “test.dbx”.
Address Book – search on “*.wab” - dbl-click to see if it has your contacts.
Microsoft Outlook – Do a search on “outlook.pst” – You can dbl-click it to see if it has your mail, contacts, etc.
Always check file sizes – Add them up at the end. How much data have you got to backup?
Possible Backup Devices:
Floppy Disk – 1.44MB (Do they make these anymore?)CD – (700MB) – cheap solution. Under .10 each.Flash Drive (Range in Size from 256MB to 8GB) $10.00 - $200.00Zip Disk (250MB-750MB — Are these still around?)External Hard Drive – You can get a 160GB drive for under $100.00

The Importance Of Backing Up Your Data

Let’s first build a picture to help you better understand the reality of data loss because many people do not realize what you can potentially lose when a hard drive crashes, a virus attacks your system, or when other types of disasters strike your system.
You power on your computer one day and you get “BOOT FAILURE. PLEASE REBOOT”.. you restart several times.. you receive the same message. That’s ok.. You can just take it to a repair shop.. They check it out, and they tell you your hard drive has failed, and is unrepairable.
What can you do? Sure, you can spend $500.00 - $2500.00 to get your hard drive data extracted by a company that specializes in that, but suppose this company cannot extract your data? Total Loss. Nothing. Nada. Your data is gone. The grimm reality sets in.
My Data Isn’t Important… Or Is It?
For many, they don’t believe that their data is important. They figure that since they don’t run a business that there is nothing they have to worry about… or is there? here is just a small list of what you can potentially lose:
? Favorites/Bookmarks (Oh well right? You’ll just have to build up possibly years of collected websites again)
? Downloaded Applications (Downloadable again right? Think again. After all, most likely the information so you CAN download them again is lost as well.)
? Downloads (E-books, Games, PDF’s, documents, etc… Do you even remember what you had?)
? E-mails (How many years of saved e-mails did you lose? WOW!!)
? Documents, Spreadsheets, Presentations (Research, Notes, School Docs, College Papers?)
? Financial Data (Quicken, MS Money, Quickbooks, etc.)
And that’s just your stuff.. Did your spouse or children have their own profiles with their data on it that was lost also? Most people don’t even think about everything that they will potentially lose if they do not do regular backups and then find themselves in mental anguish over everything they’ve lost…. when they realize all of what they’ve lost.

How Do I revert Back To My Restore Point?

Here’s how to revert to your restore point:
If you can start WinXP without any problems, just go back through the “Help and Support” menu that you used to reach the “Create a Restore Point” option.
Instead of creating a restore point, click on the option that reads “Restore my computer to an earlier time.” In just a few moments, you’ll be back where you were before you started having problems.
However, sometimes the system won’t start. In this case, reboot and press F8 repeatedly. You should reach an option that allows you to boot in Safe Mode. You won’t be able to use most of your programs, but you can use Safe Mode to reach the restore point.
Having a restore point is always recommend by our team however, we have found that running simply registry fix scans with RegCure has virtually eliminated the need to revert!
RegCure will scan you PC and fix any corruptions in your system registry and keep your PC running like new!

What Is A Restore Point

A restore point is simply a “snapshot” of your operating system and settings. This “snapshot” can be taken anytime however, it is best to take it when your PC is running smooth.
Once you have this in place, you can revert your PC back to that particular point and time when all was well in the event of an error or problem. This usually saves you from having to re-install your complete operating system to get it back to normal.
What Software Do I Need, & How Do I Create One?
Fortunately, Microsoft anticipated this problem and gave users the option of creating a restore point by including the utility as part of Windows.
When your computer is functioning properly, creating this restore point gives you a virtual bookmark of sorts: you can revert to that point and start again without losing crucial data or spending lots of time reinstalling Windows.
First, you should always back up your data before you make any changes to your system. Your files are too important to risk, so take the time to burn them to a CD or transfer them to a flash drive.
Creating a restore point is simple:
Go to Start > Help and Support.
Click on “Performance and Maintenance”
Some computer systems will instead have a link to “Restore Point.” If this is the case with your computer, follow this link.
Click on the radio button marked “Create a restore point.”Yours might say something like “Run the System Restore Wizard” instead.
Follow the prompts that Windows offers and you’ll create a restore point. All of your settings up to this point are saved and ready to be re-loaded should you choose.

Eliminate Viruses

Eliminate Viruses
Viruses are deadly. They can hit into your system and you can say so long to your computer. As such, always make sure to check for Trojans or viruses that may have entered your computer system without you realizing it. All you need to do is to grab the best anti-virus software that is available off the shelves, install it and presto!
You are done buddy. Your computer will be safe from all pesky viruses. If there happens to be any sort of virus, let the program deal with it. Follow these 3 simple steps on conducting the proper computer check up and you will be on your way to a smoother and faster processor.

Why Does My PC Need a Check Up?

Laggy computers are very common. As time whiz by, you will eventually notice that your brand new laptop or computer is functioning at a slower pace. Eventually, it reaches turtle speed. This is when you realize that your computer hangs more often, your programs just freeze and annoying error messages that has got nothing to do with you at all starts popping up like there is no tomorrow.
There is one trick to solve all these ridiculous hanging and errors. Just practice regular computer check ups. This is not some ordinary check up. You will definitely need to learn to proper way to do it.
Here are some tips and tricks that you can use to give your computer a good check up.
Spyware Good Riddance!
You read it clear. Get rid of ALL spyware that may be inside your computer unknowingly. You got to be kidding if you believe that you don’t have a single trace of spyware. Anyone who surfs the Web will usually have adaware or spyware contaminated in their system.
You can prevent this by taking the necessary precautions though. The websites that you surf would drop little programs into your system and they do it such that you are left clueless regarding the new sneaky programs. The ultimate purpose of sypware is to spy on your surfing patterns, your keystrokes and YOU.
These are then reflected on the original websites. It sure sounds intimidating doesn’t it? It is not a wonder your computer is running so slowly. So, remember to clean up these nasty spywares. There are plenty of good spyware removal sites out there in the Web. Go get yours, NOW.

More Runtime Error Repair Tips & Prevention

At the same time, you are also encouraged to read up more about the specific runtime error you are receiving, and learn how you can prevent it from happening in the near future.
For instance, Runtime Error 7 indicates that your system is not compatible with the memory requirements of the program. Runtime 61 on the other hand occurs when there is a lack in disk space for the new program.
You can of course, choose to ignore Runtime Errors however, if you do, then constant error messages that are popping up “Randomly” and unexpectedly when you try running certain programs will continue.
Hence, it is highly advisable that you get all runtime errors fixed the moment you see them popping up when you tried to run a certain program. At the same time fixing these errors will ensure that you will get to enjoy the experience of using your computer without these annoyances.
Apart from this, should you notice that runtime errors are occurring ever so frequently, it might be a good idea to do a thorough computer check up to see if there is really something wrong with your system software or hardware. At times, viruses might have dominated your PC system, disrupting all installation processes.

As a computer user, we only expect the best from our PC. Everyone deserves a decent and workable PC and so do you. So, go and get your runtime errors fixed today!

Fix Runtime Errors

Runtime errors are pretty common occurrences when using Microsoft Windows XP as your computer’s operating system. It can be pretty frustrating when error messages such as runtime pop up for no particular reason.
While these messages might seem harmless to you, ignoring them can make you even more frustrated as ever, as these errors will also restrict you from performing certain actions.
As such, it is very important for you to learn how you can fix runtime errors. Allow me to provide you with 3 simple techniques you can adopt.
3 Techniques To Fix Runtime Errors
#1 Stop all programs that you think is causing the runtime error. Runtime errors are caused, most of the time, by conflicts between programs.
To confirm if conflicting programs are the cause of runtime error, simply close the programs that are running one by one by using the help of the Windows Task Manager which can be accessed by ressing CTRL, ALT, and Delete at the same time.
Most of the time, this solves the runtime error problem. Move on to the second tip if this does not solve the problem.
#2 Alternatively, you could check for bug fixes or patches that might be available for downloads on the affected program’s website. In the event of software conflicts, most software manufacturers would release an upgraded version of the software or a patch that can be installed.
You can also try updating your device drivers.
#3 The last resort is usually to uninstall the program, after which, a complete re-installation would be performed. This will help to ensure that the program would be just as it was originally, as the previous installation might have been corrupted with errors.
Also, do ensure that you have a back up copy of all your files, as you would definitely not want to erase all your important documents in the midst of a re-installation.

Common Reasons For Computer Freeze

Most of the time, a computer freezes up simply because it does not have access to enough RAM. Hence, the most ideal way to solve this frozen screen problem is to get RAM with a larger capacity.
Every computer requires a certain amount of RAM available to run certain programs. When a program is opened, this particular program uses up part of the memory from the RAM.
Therefore, when there are some constraints in memory, the computer would not be able to take in all programs at one go, and the screen will just freeze, until it finds some free space to process the programs.
Loading too many programs at the same time when starting up your computer can also cause your computer screen to freeze. You are advised to make the necessary changes so that programs you don’t need, do NOT run the minute you switch on your PC.
Regular PC Maintenance
Next, doing some PC maintenance is definitely a good thing if you are really serious about keeping your PC performing at optimal speeds.
Doing computer checkups and cleaning your registry are just some of the more important steps of keeping your PC performing as good as new. Most of these are made available off the Net. There are free versions of virus and spyware scans so make good use of them!
At the same time, use free computer checkups online to detect some of the PC errors that you might not have noticed. This computer checkup software will automatically detect and remove all PC errors simultaneously.
Computer maintenance is definitely a must especially if you are constantly hooked onto your broadband internet connection.

Computer Keeps Freezing

Oh no, not another immobile screen. The mouse is not moving and the page is not loading! Is this happening to your PC regularly?
Everyone face the same frustration when their computer screen freezes while they are completing a project, running an application, playing games, or just leisurely surfing the internet. So what do you do when your computer keeps freezing up like there is no tomorrow?
Computer Freeze Solution
For most of the time, when this happens, the only alternative is to press Ctrl - Alt - Del all at the same time. You will see a box pop up and you will see a list of programs that are currently running on your machine.
You’ll see a ststus column next to each application. Highlight each program individually and click “End Task”. This will close certain programs that are “not responding”. Worst of all, you might also risk the chance of losing all of your unsaved documents.
That is the ultimate price you pay when a program keeps freezing up. I’ve been there, and it isn’t fun.
Thankfully, there are some magical ways that you can adopt to have a smoother processing PC. Some of the techniques will include minimizing the number of programs running at one go, a scheduled maintenance, and also, regular scans for viruses and spywares. Let’s talk about these a bit more.

How Can I Speed Up My Computer

So what you can do is to give your computer a registry clean up every now and then. To do this, you can simply download an application called RegCure. It offers a 100% free scan, which determines if in fact you do have registry problems.
The second possible reason why your computer is slow is because of those fanciful desktop wallpapers and unnecessary extras that you can live without.
This would include personalized icons and animated cursors. While it might be really tempting to change your entire Windows desktop to look exactly like a jungle on screen, stop yourself from this thought.
These extras might look nice on your desktop, but they could be the very reason why your computer is getting slower. So, try to keep things simple on the desktop. Skip all those fancy cursors.
The last reason could be simply because of nasty viruses and spyware. Almost every computer will suffer from spyware activity, even if the user is not aware of it.
When you surf over to other websites, these websites will drop random spyware into your computer system. The purpose of doing so is to spy on your web surfing patterns.
If you take spyware a little too lightly by visiting the wrong kind of websites, you might end up inviting hackers to hack into your computer system.
So the most obvious solution is to get anti-spyware software. Also, keep anti-virus software ready in your computer at all times too. You just don’t know when a virus might enter into your computer system.

Computer Is Slow

Is your computer running at turtle speed? If it is, then something may be terribly wrong. If you ignore this problem, then you can expect your computer to soon experience other problems like Windows errors, the dreaded blue screen of death and many other computer ailments.
So, before your PC deteriorates any further, help yourself by learning the reasons why your computer is slow. By understanding the errors that you might have made with your computer, you will then be able to improve the condition of your computer and smile the next time your computer takes less than 2 minutes to start up.
Why Is My Computer Slow?
There are many possible reasons why your computer is slow. It largely depends on you, the user. How well you keep your computer maintained will determine how fast your PC is able to process information.
So let me proceed to the ultimate reason why you computer is losing speed.
“It is all got to do with the registry” they say. If you are wondering what the registry is, then fret not. Most people are unaware of the existence of a thing called the “registry” inside of their computers.
The registry is a component in the computer that stores all information, mainly the Windows operating system configuration as well as some software configuration as well.
So over time, these files in the registry might get corrupted with current and old registry keys. As such, you will find that your computer will take ages to open an application.
The reason is simply because instead of normal direct access to the information, your processor now has to go through loops and bends just to get to the required information. Makes sense now?

If you’re a frequent visitor to the internet, then you’ve more than likely come across a cryptic error message before while you were browsing. You know the ones I’m talking about - something like 400: Bad Request or 404: Page Not Found.
Now, for the most part these messages remain hidden in the vast black hole that is the World Wide Web, but occasionally you may run across one or two of these errors that cause you to believe you’ve done something wrong.
That’s simply not true, and the following guide is designed to clue you in to the meaning behind various browser errors and what you can do (if anything) about these pesky nuisances.

400: Bad Request

400: Bad Request
Probably one of the more common browser errors, this error simply means that you mistyped a URL or that you don’t have valid permission to access the page you’re looking for. Because websites are case sensitive, you’ll need to check to make sure you typed the URL exactly the way it’s supposed to be.
Subsequently, if you’re trying to visit a website that you found in a magazine or newspaper and you’ve received one of these errors, it’s quite possible that whoever got that link wrote it incorrectly.
Mess around with the URL and see if you can get to the main page of the website that you’re trying to visit.
If you can, you may be able to manually navigate to the original page you were trying to view.

401: Unauthorized

401: Unauthorized
If you’ve bumped into one of these little guys, that means the page you are trying to access doesn’t recognize you as someone who belongs at that URL. You either don’t have the correct password or were never authorized by the page creator to view that site.
This could also mean that the website you are trying to connect to is restricting people based on the domain they are using to connect, i.e. .edu or .gov. If you believe this message was caused in error, then check the spelling of your password and make sure it’s correct.
Remember, most passwords are case sensitive so “Password” does not look the same as “password.” If you cannot get through and you know you have access to the website, then you have no choice but to contact the site admin and hope they can help sort out your difficulties.

403: Forbidden

403: Forbidden
Similar to the 401 error, this browser message pops up when you’re trying to visit a website that you don’t have access to view. It might be protected in some way, or restricted for viewing by certain people.
If you believe your password is correct (after repeating the steps in #2 and checking to make sure it’s spelled correctly,) but you are still unable to connect, e-mail the sites admininstrator and try to figure out what’s causing your browser to display the error.

404: Not Found

Another common browser message, a Not Found indicates that a website you’re trying to view may not exist anymore. Alternatively, the page could have been moved to a different server or renamed to something else.
Once again, you want to check the spelling of your URL and ensure that you’ve spelled it correctly. If it’s still not working, you may want to try changing the URL until you’re able to locate the main site.
For example, if you’re searching for yourwebsite.com/mainpage/fun, try searching instead for yourwebsite.com/mainpage. Keep doing that until you end up at www.yourwebsite.com, the main part of the site. If the URL works, you can try to manually navigate to the intended destination.
Some webmasters design custom error pages for links on their website that no longer work or are outdated.
While some of these error messages may be humorous or interesting, they all mean the same thing every other messages means — but they are customized so the viewer can actually understand what’s going on.
Generally, these custom error messages are used in place of your standard 404: Not Found browser error, but they can be used for other errors as well.
Now that you know what all of these browser messages are REALLY saying, you can surf the web without worrying too much about these bad boys popping up.

Women car insurance

Some car insurance companies specialise in car insurance for women drivers. Young male drivers are a higher risk category of people when compared to mature ladies and even women of the same age. Women can avail their quotes from a firm that specialises in covering female drivers. Gender Women are statistically safer drivers. Figures released recently tell us that 18 per cent of women drivers in the 21 to 25 age group are driving these cars with their costly modifications and specialist trims, normally associated with male drivers. Also, women tend to get lower car insurance rates than men if their driving record is clean. Because of these statistics women benefit from lower car insurance premiums. Insurance companies, probably for fear of upsetting would-be clients do not like to talk about this, but judging from the quotes they mostly give to women drivers, women are considered less of a risk and will therefore generally tend to end up paying less for their car insurance than men. CHESS GAME DOWNLOADS

There are many chess game downlaod sites available on the Internet if you are a fan of this great tournament of strategy, but with no one to play with. The advantages of using one of these chess game downlaods is that you can play on your own and at any time that you want to. No more waiting around for other people to play with you. Why, you may even be able to play a free chess game during down time at work if you are one of the many thousands of folks out there with a desk jockey job. I know that I have gotten more use from my chess game downlaod than from almost any of my other Internet toys, and that is no lie. The great thing about using a chess game downlaod is that the computer is quite likely to be as good or better than anyone that you play against. Unless you have friends who are among the very top 3 or 4 percent of chess players in the world, you will probably have more trouble by far beating the chess game downlaod than you will with defeating your friends. It is just a fact that chess game download tournaments are much more challenging than almost any game you play in person. The disadvantage, of course, is that you do not get the personal contact from a chess game download which you would get from a one on one game. You will not be able to face off one of your friends, or to catch up on gossip, or enjoy any of the many other activities that go along with playing a friendly match. You will not be able to get tips from your friend if he is better than you, or to give him tips if you are. This is a really big drawback if you are trying to improve your skill. There is no better way to improve than to be taught by a superior player, and that is a fact. If you are a regular chess player, the chess game download can provide an opportunity for you to work at your game, but it does not substitute for real games against people. In addition to the chess game downlaod you get, you should probably also join up with a chess club to meet some folks in your area who also play chess.

LEGAL MUSIC DOWNLOADS

Since the advent of music downlaod sites such as Limewire, Napster and Kazaa, along with the rising popularity of MP3 players from iPod and other companies, people have been moving away from purchasing CDs from stores and more to downlaoding music for use. There are several reasons for this, including people just wanting particular songs, thinking the price of a whole CD is too expensive and wanting music for free. A crackdown on free music downlaods a few years ago has lead to people now searching for legal music downlaods. legal music downlaods came about because of several musicians pleading with the government that they owned their music, and it therefore should not be available for free downlaoding through shareware like Napster, which has one of the largest downlaoding sites. The government then decided that this would be illegal, and made it possible for companies to provide legal music downlaods for a small fee, as long as it was not free or through shareware. Sites began popping up online, with the most popular being iTunes which is associated with Apple and iPod. Even Napster tried to jump on the new bandwagon, providing legal music downlaods for a monthly subscription fee. iTunes became increasingly popular mainly because they provided legal music downlaods for a very nominal fee of ninety-nine cents per song. One didn’t have to purchase a costly monthly subscription if they just wanted one or two songs, and it was convenient to do. Now, there are hundreds of sites that offer legal music downlaods ranging from small start up companies to Yahoo and iTunes. Each has their own method of payment and amount allowed for downlaoding. In addition, there are a handful of international sites that are offering legal music downlaods. The most popular and widespread are located in Russia. They are under much scrutiny as they offer songs for as little as five cents each, and the music companies and artists are not very fond of music being sold for that little. Since these companies are located in other countries, it has been difficult to crack down on them because other countries do not fully recognize intellectual property laws like the United States. In conclusion, there are several ways to find legal music downlaods. To play it safe, go through reputable and well known sites such as Itunes or Yahoo. You can take a risk and downlaod your music through one of the international sites that currently offer legal music downlaods, but you run the chance of a government crackdown or glitches in the site that may or may not allow you to fully downlaod the music you pay for.

DOWNLOAD PC GAMES

People have been playing games on computers since there have been computers. Gen Xers will remember their first run at Pong, while most twenty somethings will remember fondly playing Oregon Trail and the despair they felt when their oxen died or their whole wagon was struck down by diphtheria. Now in games like Everquest or World of Warcraft gamers battle their friends who could be in the next room, the next county, or the next country. The internet has not only brought about a surge in online gaming, but also a rise in people who are starting to downlaod PC games. You can downlaod PC games at all kinds of different sites. Some of them allow you to downlaod small games to your own computer and play them whenever you want. These games, often smaller applications like poker, pool, or puzzle games, are usually called "freeware" because they are free to copy, play, and give away. Other games called "shareware" or "demos" only offer limited versions of games. They are often used to promote full retail games which usually sell for between twenty and fifty dollars. Downlaods of these pc games are usually limited either in scope or in time. For example, in the shareware version of an adventure game your character may only be able to explore a limited portion of the game's "world." Other games are limited by the amount of time you can spend playing the game or how many times the application can be used. These shareware games can be helpful to gamers who are unsure of if they'll like a certain game or if it will run on their hardware. With game demos they can try running the game on their own computer before deciding to purchase the full retail version of the game. Most sites make downlaoding pc games a relatively painless process; with a few clicks you can start downlaoding your favorite game. The pain usually kicks in for dial-up users, as some games, especially shareware versions of large, graphics-heavy games, can weigh in at hundreds of megabytes. This makes downlaoding many pc games the territory of the DSL or cable modem, which can still take a while handling the larger downlaods. However, smaller games can be downlaoded and enjoyed by everyone, often serving as a needed break from Minesweeper and Solitaire on your home computer. With so many different choices, you may never have to go back to Spider Solitaire again.

Animated Mouse Cursors

Animated Mouse CursorsHaving animated mouse cursors can really do a huge amount to help you in spicing up your computer desktop. The best thing about animated cursors is that you can get them for free. There are animated mouse cursors on almost any conceivable topic, and even tools out there to help you to make your own. For example, I used to be a great big fan of the cartoon Danger Mouse. I would always spend all day watching it as a child, and so when I grew up and moved away, I figured that I wanted to do something to remember this special part of my childhood. I found desktop Danger Mouse themes on the Internet, and installed them to make my system look spiffy. Now, every single time that it is loading, there is an animated mouse cursor showing the flying Danger Mouse car just cruising along with the famous mouse and his loyal assistant, Penfold, driving side by side. The mouse pointer itself is one of the animated mouse cursors. It shows Danger Mouse running along, probably pursuing some top secret mission from which he may never return. Of course, there are animated cursors on many other topics as well. Some of the most popular, however, are other cartoons, movies, and tv shows. There are animated mouse cursors on both classics, and the modern hits. The most popular are science fiction programs, because they are just so popular with geeks. You can get animated mouse cursors depicting Doctor Who, Star Wars, any Star Trek you lie, Babylon 5, and any other famous science fiction show or movie by the thousands. It is like almost every fan that there is out there has to make his own animated mouse cursor to show his loyalty and dedication to whatever tv show that it is. If there are no tv shows or movies that you are particularly into, you can still probably find animated mouse cursors which fit some of your own interests. Some of the current favorites show things like faces with different expressions. When it is loading, the face will make a concerned or bored expression, or maybe start to roll its eyes, until it is finished. Then the face will go back to its usual smile, or whatever animated cursor that you chose to be the default. There are endless hours of entertainment to be had from decorating and perfecting your computer desktop.

All in One Printers

Buying all in one printers is a really important thing for every office nowadays. Think about it. Your workplace probably now has an inkjet printer, a copier, barcode printers, perhaps a scanner, and a computer. That is a lot of office equipment, and the bigger your office is, the more space it will take up. Using all in one printers really eliminates the need to have so much different equipment, because it combines all of the most important office tools into one easy to use machine. Think about it. An all in one printer can be used as a scanner, or it can be used as a copier, or it can be used as a normal printer. Many all in one printers can even be used as fax machines, meaning that a huge amount of money is saved by using this simple and versatile piece of machinery. Another advantage about using the best all in one printers over the normal range of office machinery is that there is so much less to go wrong. It is a fact that equipment breaks down from time to time, and the more equipment, the bigger the possibility of a break down. It is just a rule that the more that can go wrong, the more that will go wrong. And while it is unreasonable to expect people to know the ins and outs of the printer, the scanner, the copier, and the fax machine, everyone can learn how to operate one simple all in one printer. Also, because all in one printers are a pretty recent innovation, they tend to be better designed and more durable than are most copiers. They have more sleek, updated designs, that take up a whole lot less space, and this can really help. The one disadvantage of all in one printers is that they tend not to make copies as economically as a copier does. In general, it costs a good bit more for you to buy the ink to feed them, and this translates into much more expensive copies. But of course, there is a very easy solution to this problem that, unless you are receiving a lot of faxes, should solve your ink problems. You should simply have, in addition to all in one printers, a few fax machines that can be used for large projects. This will no doubt cut your costs by a whole lot.

Cheapest Broadband

I have had nothing but trouble with my Internet service provider since I switched to AOL Broadband. I did it because they advertised that they were the cheapest broadband. At the time, I was using Comcast, which up to a bit before that had been the only game in town. Now that there were other services available, it sure was not the cheapest broadband. Unfortunately, the amount of cash that I saved by using AOL just was not worth the hassle and aggravation of that awful service. I must try to remember in the future, that having cheap broadband is not all that great of a thing if the broadband that you have is really awful. It is always hard to say what the cheapest broadband is in any area at the time, since it depends on a variety of factors. There are some times when a broadband service will be cheap, but will require you to buy the modem. Other times, the cheapest broadband available will also have the unfortunate drawback of making you buy six months of service at once, which is a totally awful position to have to be in. Still other times, a normally expensive broadband service, be it Cable or DSL, will have a special promotion in the area where they will be offering the cheapest broadband around for a limited time to get people signed up. Really, it all depends, and what is cheap one day may well be pretty costly a day or two after that. It makes a lot of sense to find the cheapest broadband provided that you do not have to sign a contract to stay with it. If you do, you may live to regret it. Once you have signed the contract, you are quite simply stuck for months at a time, even if the service is lousy or worthless. The bottom line is that you should be quite sure that what you have works before you agree to go for it in the long run. That is the only way that you can afford the awful inconvenience of substandard services that I had to go through myself. And, while I am on the subject, let me tell you to never use AOL Broadband. They will make your life a living hell if you try to quit, deliberately pestering you to try to get you to give up in your attempt to cancel services.

Computer Repair

You’ve seen the advertisements on television for computer repair companies that send folks right to your home. Geek Squad is a popular one, and they claim to be the only help you need. Honestly, I’ve never used them for computer repair, but I can say that I have heard mixed reviews. There are some very happy customers out there, and there are also some people who are fuming at the memory of what happened to their computers. If you need someone for computer repair, it might not matter so much what they can do, it’s what you choose to do before they even arrive. You can call up those like the Geek Squad, and they will come to your home for computer repair. Just remember that this is going to cost you, and it may cost you more than just the hourly fee. You can also find someone who does computer repair in his or her home or office, and you simply have to take it in and drop it off. The biggest concern you have is what will happen to your data while your computer is in someone else’s hands. The only way you can be sure your information is safe is by saving it yourself. Never leave this up to anyone else. If you don’t know how to do it, learn. You should back up your computer information on a weekly or even daily basis, not just before you take your machine in for computer repair. That being said, if you have your information backed up, you don’t have to be so worried when you need computer repair. Your next worry is price and experience. Quite often these go hand in hand. The more experience a person has, the more they can charge. Experience isn’t everything, but it can mean the difference between computer repair and computer destruction. Go to someone with a good reputation for quality computer repair, and worry about the price later. If you are looking for a good paying career, computer repair might be just what you need. You can make good money if you know what you are doing, and you can find training in almost any city. If you want to go into computer repair, remember that you will do well if you have a mind for details, can figure out complicated problems, and have a knack for using computers. It’s not for everyone, but if you find it’s the career for you, you can make a lot of money in computer repair, and you can at times pick and choose where you want to work.

Computers in Schools

I am always amazed when I take a gander at today's school systems. I mean, sure they have their flaws, but they also offer plenty of wonderful nuances. And I'm just comparing them to my high school back in the early 90s. One of the great aspects of today's learning centers involves computers. Not only do they now offer computers in schools, but they even put them in the classrooms. That's sweet if you ask me. I would have loved to have had a computer in my classroom back in elementary school. Imagine the cool learning games that could be played. Yes indeed folks, schools are sure changing. What do you think about computers in schools? Do you think they are a wonderful learning tool, or a mere distraction for the students? This is a major concern for some. I was surprised after speaking with my mother who does not condone computers in schools. I could hardly grasp why she felt this way. However, she feels that knowledge should come from the texts and the teacher. Oh well, what can you do; the woman went to a country school in the 40s. I'm sure things were much different on many levels back then. You know with the whole trudging to school through the 6 foot deep snow and all. Regardless of my mother's views on computers in schools, I must still support the use of PCs and Mac for learning tools in classrooms and media centers. It just makes sense if you truly sit down and think about it. No single source is going to offer you more knowledge and information than a contemporary computer with Internet access. Do you have PCs or Macs in your school? This is something I've noticed that varies from school to school. Although we had PCs in my University back in Oregon, my daughter has Macs in her elementary school. Each school must strike a deal with the companies or something. Regardless, they do virtually the same things in my opinion. Although Macs tend to be a little simpler to operate for some. So, when it comes down to the issue of computers in schools, I think it's safe to say that this is a prudent additive to any learning environment. To find out what computers are in your child's school, simply take a look around. That's what I did.

Computer Technical Support

Have you ever needed computer technical support? From what I hear this is a rather common need in the world we all currently share. Folks around the globe are constantly in need of computer technical support for their PCs and Macs. Now, I'm not going to lie to you. I have needed help with my PC in the past. However, it typically has to do with the Internet access more than anything else. Why am I getting kicked off line? Time Warner really does need to upgrade their system. Maybe the dilemma lies in their masses of customers. After all, they are the biggest in the business. Anyway, computers are electronic wonders that have truly become and imperative aspect of our lives. We can't help it. We were all hooked from day one. These days we use our personal computers so much that it would be a massive burden to suddenly be without them. How would you manage without yours? My older brother works in the computer technical support business. He is a computer technician for a University. This basically means that whenever any student has a computer issue regarding hardware or software, he can lend them a helping hand. He's great at this. I should know; he's helped me out on several occasions. However, now that I have a Mac, things aren't the same. You see, he works day-in and day-out on PCs. These have a slightly different construction than Macs. I wish I'd known this. I always assumed I would continue to call him for computer technical support. He is the only computer nut I know. I've witnessed him disassemble and reassemble them a number of times. Them being PCs of course. Now I am basically in hot water. My warranty has expired and there is no way I want to drop another 1200 on a Mac laptop. I desperately need some free computer technical support for Macs. Were you aware that you can easily get on the web for computer technical support? It's true; you can hop online and solve a number of your computer issues just by reading. This is free computer technical support. Now, you should keep in mind that it will not solve any and all problems, but it will provide plenty of troubleshooting advice. In reality this is generally all it takes. Acquire the computer technical support you need now online.
Wireless Internet Service ProviderEvery work-at-home mom dreams about owning a laptop. This prize is sought after by anyone who needs to get in as many hours on the computer as she can while juggling the many other duties whirling around her. In my quest for the right laptop I discovered that I need to find a wireless Internet service provider as well. This is something I hadn’t considered during my many daydreams of working on my new laptop while my daughter played in our yard. Actually, I had no idea that a wireless Internet service provider even existed until I toyed with purchasing a laptop of my own. I wasn’t even sure how to define what this Internet provider would do. In order to figure out exactly how this worked, I decided to consult the World Wide Web for some answers. I discovered that a wireless Internet service provider will install a network of services in homes as well as businesses and public buildings like airports. Hotels are commonly equipped with a network installed by a wireless Internet service provider. The technology is just about everywhere. The great thing about the wireless Internet service providers is that they create what is known as “hot spots”. These areas are useful for anyone who owns a laptop because the portable computer can be used in these places. I love the idea of typing away while my daughter is a swim practice. I can work and show my support all at the same time. Here is where my daydream turned into a fog. For some reason, I had difficulty understanding how I could take my laptop to these hot spots and use it if I were away from my own wireless Internet service provider at home. This kind of thought can give me a headache but I do like to try and understand how things work. It is important for me to know how a wireless Internet service provider functions because I am making an investment in the laptop. I hate to own something that is a complete mystery to me. From what I understand, I just subscribe to the service and the company takes it from there. You may wonder why there is so little to tell about my research. Actually, wireless Internet service providers are quite new. The technology is still in a relatively early stage of development. So for now, I only know that I want a laptop and I know I can use it at home as well as in some hot spots in the community and I’m pretty satisfied with that.

Chkdsk finding unfixable errors?

Whenever I run chkdsk in read only mode I get the following message thatis pasted below. First, I have ran the error-checking program in theTools tab when right-clicking drive C and select Properties. I havechecked both boxes that say "Automatically fix file system errors" and"Scan for and attempt recovery of bad sectors" It says it must reboot toscan which I do. It scans in 5 different stages and then reboots againand acts normally. I don't get any disk errors anywhere else and have noidea if I should try to fix the errors or not worry about them. Is Your Laptop Or Home Computer Wireless Enabled? By : Kevin Erickson

Built in wireless capabilities are becoming almost standard equipment on most laptop and home computers these days for a couple of reasons. One of the primary reasons is cost. Adding wireless capacity is so inexpensive that it would be silly for the manufacturers not to add it. The perceived value of any machine with wireless capacity far exceeds the cost to add it. Wireless is the wave of the future, so if the manufacturers want to stay ahead of the technology curve they need to add it to all but there most basic models. However, if you're like most people you probably can't even check how much memory your computer has, let-alone if your computer is wireless enabled. Throw in the fact that you may not even know what wireless networking is and it's easy to ignore even trying to determine if your computer has that capacity. As a result, having ever taken the time to set it up is clearly out of the question. However, since you bought your computer you've probably heard more and more about "going wireless" because it's becoming the hip thing to do. If that's the case with you or I've simply peaked your imagination then read a bit more because I've outlined a few things you can to do to check if your computer has wireless capabilities. Laptops - Intel Centrino Mobile TechnologyComputer manufacturers do less than a perfect job at explaining what this means but if you if your laptop came with this built in then that's good news for you! In a nutshell, it means that your laptop has wireless networking built right in and you don't have to do a thing. Intel Centrino Mobile Technology is a marketing name for a combination of the Intel Pentium M processor and Intel's' Pro Wireless card. If you have Intel Centrino Mobile Technology then your computer should have a "Centrino" sticker on it somewhere. If you can't find a sticker but you suspect you had one at one time then simply do the following. Right click on your "My Computer" icon. It's probably on your desktop but if not then go to your Start Menu, find My Computer, right-click and select Properties. When the menu opens look at what it says after or under the word Computer. On a side note, Intel Centrino Mobile Technology also increases battery life and allows manufacturers to build computers smaller. If you can't find anything referring to Intel Centrino Mobile Technology under the word Computer -- don't worry because as long as your laptop has a free card slot, installing wireless is a piece of cake. Desktop ComputersIf you're not sure whether or not your desktop computer has a wireless connection, the easiest thing to do is to simply turn it around and look for a small aerial sticking out of the back towards the bottom. If it's there then you are wireless enabled. On the other hand, if there's nothing then it's still possible that you have a wireless device in the computer, especially if you purchased anytime in 2005 or beyond. However, because it's not the best idea (unless you've done it before) to try and open up your computer to check something I'll show you a way to check, if your wireless enabled, using Windows. Using Windows to Check Wireless CapacityRather than messing with your computers hardware to verify what you've got installed, you can just as easily check using your Windows' Device Manager. To use it, right click My Computer / Choose Manage / and then click Device Manager. After you click Device Manager a list of everything you can install will appear on the right half of the screen. Take a look under Network adapters and ignore anything that says 10/100 or Ethernet because they are simply normal network connections -- not wireless ones. If there's anything else there, it could be a wireless device. If you think you have a wireless device, but it has a yellow warning sign alongside its name in the Device Manager, you should take a look at it to see what's wrong by double clicking on it. Windows should then tell you why the device is not working at the moment and may even suggest that you go through its troubleshooter program. Do that before you do anything else. If it turns out to be a driver problem, you should insert the driver CD that came with your computer. If you can't find the driver CD that came with your computer - don't worry because you should be able to find and then download the appropriate driver online. The first step would be to go to website of your computers manufacturer and do a search for the name of the wireless device that showed up in your Device Manager. Once you find the correct driver simply download it and follow the instructions. After all this (actually about 5 minutes) you may discover that you don't have a wireless enabled computer -- oh well, those are the breaks. However, it's clearly better to find out your computers wireless capacity now -- before you go out and buy some wireless equipment and then realize that you didn't even need it. Tracking your emails with mailtracking.com By : San

I'm going to tell you about a great service I use a lot and I'd like to see you use it too. Its free and it has lots of benefits and advantages. It is to be found at Mail Tracking and once you sign up for it and start using it you will understand its benefits real well. If you use it and send me an email (for example) you will get a report back that tells you when I opened your email, how long it took me to read it and if I open it, read it and close it then open it again later it wil also tell you that. If I were to forward your email to anyone else it would tell you I did that, when that person opened it and how long they took to read it. There are other bells and whistles too. You can do a pretty fair job of customization once you get into the configuration menus. The one thing you want to watch out for is that you don't demand that I send you an email receipt for opening your emails. Some of you do that now and I never hit the send button. The reason I don't acknowledge receipt is that my firewall won't let me do it for some strange reason. With mailtracking you don't need that because you are going to get a receipt anyway. Now then, let me explain the whys and wherefores bit more. Let us assume that you send me an email and I don't answer it. Why would I ignore your emails? Well, I usually wouldn't but sometimes when deleting some to the junk emails I get a key bounce effect and more than one email gets deleted. The one that got unintentionly deleted might very well have been your email. I probably would not have any way of responding to you since I don't keep email address books because of the virus problems. Then maybe I don't get back to you because I'm extremely busy from time to time and your email gets shoved down the stack of constantly incoming emails and goes by unnoticed, and you don't get the service we both want you to have. Now then, with mail tracking you know exactly when I opened your email or if I didn't even open it. You know that I want to give you the very best service possible and you know that I want to get your email answered within 24 hours if at all possible. That means that if I don't answer you within 24 hours something has gone wrong. What might have gone wrong? As we all know, anything can go wrong with email. You make a typo and I don't get it but for whatever reason you don't get a mailer daemon return from it, So there you sit, getting madder by the hour. And I am oblivious to what has happened. If you use mailtracking.com service lots of that frustration can be eliminated. You can send me another email if I don't answer within 24 hours so you can be sure to get my attention and some action going for you. If I open the email you will know when I opened it and if I don't get back to you within 24 hours you will know it is time to start calling me or asking me what for and why. Use it for sending email to other businesses for the same reasons. And use it with friends, relatives and whoever for the same reasons. It isn't about trying to track them down or stalk anyone although you could come pretty close with the pro version I use. I could not use it to find your house and actually drive right up to your front door except by accident. In order to actually do that I would have to know your actual address but lacking that I could drive right up to your door, sit there in front of your house and look around me and wonder which house was really yours and not know I was sitting right in front of it. And why on earth would I want to do that anyway? I use it because I want to know that you got what I sent you and so why wouldn't you use it for the same reason? I think it can be used when sending payments by paypal too. I'd like you to start trying to use it when sending in a payment. That would make sure you sent it to bbauer1@netzero.net and not to bbauer@netzero.com or some other bad address and if you did that you would have a way to track the mistake and get your money back faster so you can send it to the right address. You don't even have to sign up for their service to start using it. All you have to do is send an email to someone such as ceo@creditwrench.mailtracking.com and mailtracker will immediately pick up on that and send you back a confirmation telling you that they opened a free temporary account for you. Then you can follow the links in that and go sign up and customize your settings and start using it. Their pro version is only about $40 a year and I think that is well worth it when you send out as many emails as I do. Security and service are important to all of us and this tool heightens both of those a whole lot. Get it and try it. I think you will like it.

CRM Software System By : Taylor May

CRM is the accepted purpose of Customer Relationship Management is to enable organizations to better manage their customers through the introduction of reliable processes and procedures for interacting with those customers. In today's competitive business environment, a successful CRM software solution cannot be implemented by only installing and integrating. CRM software application designed to support CRM processes. A holistic approach to CRM is vital for an effective and efficient CRM policy. This approach includes training of employees, a modification of business processes based on customers' needs and an adoption of a relevant IT CRM system (including software and maybe hardware) and/or usage of IT CRM Services that enable the organization or company to follow its CRM strategy. CRM Services can even replace the acquisition of additional hardware or CRM software application licences. The term CRM "Customer Relationship Management is used to describe either the CRM software or the whole business strategy (or lack of one) oriented on customer needs. The second one is the description which is correct. The main misconception of CRM is that it is only a software solution application, instead of whole business strategy. Major areas of CRM Software System Solutions focus on service automated processes, personal information gathering and processing, and self-service. It attempts to integrate and automate the various customer serving processes within a company. A CRM software solution application can manage and run your entire business. From prospect and client contact tools to billing history and bulk email management. The software CRM Sosystem allows you to maintain all customer records in one centralized location that is accessible to your entire organization through password administration. A front office CRM software system is set up to collect data from the customers for processing into the data warehouse. The data warehouse is a back office CRM Software system used to fulfill and support customer orders. All customer information is stored in the data warehouse. A back office CRM software application makes it possible for a company to follow sales, orders, and cancellations. Special regressions of this data can be very beneficial for the marketing division of a firm. A integrated CRM software system is often also known as front office solutions. This is because they deal directly with the customer.

"WE DON'T know what we are talking about" - Nobel Laureate David Gross By : MStrauss

Last December ('05), physicists held the 23rd Solvay Conference in Brussels, Belgium. Amongst the many topics covered in the conference was the subject matter of string theory. This theory combines the apparently irreconcilable domains of quantum physics and relativity. David Gross a Nobel Laureate made some startling statements about the state of physics including: "We don't know what we are talking about" whilst referring to string theory as well as The state of physics today is like it was when we were mystified by radioactivity. The Nobel Laureate is a heavyweight in this field having earned a prize for work on the strong nuclear force and he indicated that what is happening today is very similar to what happened at the 1911 Solvay meeting. Back then, radioactivity had recently been discovered and mass energy conservation was under assault because of its discovery. Quantum theory would be needed to solve these problems. Gross further commented that in 1911 "They were missing something absolutely fundamental," as well as "we are missing perhaps something as profound as they were back then." Coming from a scientist with establishment credentials this is a damning statement about the state of current theoretical models and most notably string theory. This theoretical model is a means by which physicists replace the more commonly known particles of particle physics with one dimensional objects which are known as strings. These bizarre objects were first detected in 1968 through the insight and work of Gabriele Veneziano who was trying to comprehend the strong nuclear force. Whilst meditating on the strong nuclear force Veneziano detected a similarity between the Euler Beta Function, named for the famed mathematician Leonhard Euler, and the strong force. Applying the aforementioned Beta Function to the strong force he was able to validate a direct correlation between the two. Interestingly enough, no one knew why Euler's Beta worked so well in mapping the strong nuclear force data. A proposed solution to this dilemma would follow a few years later. Almost two years later (1970), the scientists Nambu, Nielsen and Susskind provided a mathematical description which described the physical phenomena of why Euler's Beta served as a graphical outline for the strong nuclear force. By modeling the strong nuclear forces as one dimensional strings they were able to show why it all seemed to work so well. However, several troubling inconsistencies were immediately seen on the horizon. The new theory had attached to it many implications that were in direct violation of empirical analyses. In other words, routine experimentation did not back up the new theory. Needless to say, physicists romantic fascination with string theory ended almost as fast as it had begun only to be resuscitated a few years later by another 'discovery.' The worker of the miraculous salvation of the sweet dreams of modern physicists was known as the graviton. This elementary particle allegedly communicates gravitational forces throughout the universe. The graviton is of course a 'hypothetical' particle that appears in what are known as quantum gravity systems. Unfortunately, the graviton has never ever been detected; it is as previously indicated a 'mythical' particle that fills the mind of the theorist with dreams of golden Nobel Prizes and perhaps his or her name on the periodic table of elements. But back to the historical record. In 1974, the scientists Schwarz, Scherk and Yoneya reexamined strings so that the textures or patterns of strings and their associated vibrational properties were connected to the aforementioned 'graviton.' As a result of these investigations was born what is now called 'bosonic string theory' which is the 'in vogue' version of this theory. Having both open and closed strings as well as many new important problems which gave rise to unforeseen instabilities. These problematical instabilities leading to many new difficulties which render the previous thinking as confused as we were when we started this discussion. Of course this all started from undetectable gravitons which arise from other theories equally untenable and inexplicable and so on. Thus was born string theory which was hoped would provide a complete picture of the basic fundamental principles of the universe. Scientists had believed that once the shortcomings of particle physics had been left behind by the adoption of the exotic string theory, that a grand unified theory of everything would be an easily ascertainable goal. However, what they could not anticipate is that the theory that they hoped would produce a theory of everything would leave them more confused and frustrated than they were before they departed from particle physics. The end result of string theory is that we know less and less and are becoming more and more confused. Of course, the argument could be made that further investigations will yield more relevant data whereby we will tweak the model to an eventual perfecting of our understanding of it. Or perhaps 'We don't know what we are talking about.'

The Wonderful Future Of Cell Phones By : Amit Laufer

The popularity of the mobile phones is constantly on the rise like a snow ball. There are numerous reasons for that and they are well beyond mere communicating with each other. The development of the cell phones and technology in the past decade along with social and cultural processes as well as sharp decrease in prices contributed to their phenomenon success. Cell phones have long become a symbol of status as well as a fashion statement. Some manufacturers have started to produce special designed phones for women. Other models are designed with interchangeable facades to cater for the youngsters. A lot of young people are transferring their instant-messaging habits to their cell phones. The integration of so many different functionalities and technologies into the cell phones is more impressive and beneficial than the all-in-one office devices that integrated a scanner, a copier, a fax and a printer into a single compact space saving multifunctional machine. The current generation of G-2.5 technology as well as the very near future G-3 units that are starting to emerge right now will carry in it so many functions which are mind blowing. These new Cell phones are going to be a multimedia center, a mobile office, a navigation device GPS (Global Positioning system), a computer with fast Internet access, a text messenger, a high resolution camera and video, a watch, a calculator, a PDA, an MP3 music player, TV and a Wallet! Yes, we will be able to pay with it for things we today pay with coins like vending soda or coffee machines as well as for parking space, trains and buses tickets etc’. It has become our “Swiss Army Knife”... In Israel they used the cell phone to send SMS message and approval for one dollar donation payment for needy children. I guess that in the future it will be a legitimate tool for voting in contests and may be even in Elections. Writing in the Wall Street Journal, an executive for a wireless company noted that “in Slovakia, people are using mobile phones to remotely switch on the heat before they return home,” and in Norway, “1.5 million people can confirm their tax returns” using cell phone short text messaging services. Paramedics use camera phones to send ahead to hospitals pictures of the incoming injuries; “in Britain, it is now commonplace for wireless technology to allow companies to remotely access meters or gather diagnostic information.” Construction workers on-site can use cell phones to send pictures to contractors off-site. Combined with the individual use of cell phones—to make appointments, locate a friend, check voicemail messages, or simply to check in at work—cell phones offer peoplean unknown level of convenience. (Source: The New Atlantis – Article by Christine Rosen). Other interesting applications are providing a locating service of your friends, or in other words if one of your friends is very close to where you are right now an SMS massage can alert you of this fact. Cell phones and Dating Services Several companies now offer a way to flirt and meet people anonymously. These services offer cell-to-cell texting and PC-to-cell texting. (Text-messaging phones also can receive messages sent over the Internet from a PC.) Companies including UPOC (Universal Point of Contact) and SMS.ac allow users to fill out a profile as they would at any dating service (some dating sites are dabbling with texting) and then search for an ideal match. Profiles can include photos and can be accessed either with a picture-enabled cell phone or through a PC. Say you want to meet a 20- to 30-year-old man in Kentucky who is interested in hiking. Do a search and three names pop up. You can send one a text message without ever exposing your phone number Cell phones as safety device One of the main reasons the cell phones have become so wide spread nowadays is that besides convenience it is perceived as a security and safety aid, Parents provide their children with mobile phones in order to track their whereabouts, to make sure they arrived safely to their destinations, to give them a mobile phone to report in real time when in any sort of trouble. Many women feel much safer in the street knowing they can call for help when in need.

How Computers Add - A Logical Approach By : Tony Stockill

We looked at Number Systems and counting (see It's a Binary World - How Computers Count) last time. As a quick refresher, we saw that computers are made up of many units of 0 and 1, the binary system. 1 is the highest digit possible so numbers in the computer are stored as for example 1010 or 10 in decimal. We also saw that these binary numbers can be seen as octal (8) or hexadecimal (16) numbers - in this case 1010 becomes 15 octal, or A hex. You probably realise that the 'standard' PC code is in 8 bit bytes taking the hex system a stage further. You may also know that processors, and Windows software that runs on them, have progressed from 8 bits to 16 bits to 32 bits to 64 bits. Basically this means the computer can work on 1,2, 4 or 8 bytes at once. Don't worry if this is all Gobbledegook, you don't need it to understand how computers add! OK now to the Math - cringe time! It's a little more complicated than last time, but if you think logically, like a computer, realising they are really dumb, you will sail through it! We take a break here to look at a bit of math you may not have heard of - Boolean Algebra. Once again it's really simple, but it shows you how a computer works, and why it is so pedantic! Boolean Algebra is named after George Boole, an English Mathematician in the 19th Century. He devised the logic system used in digital computers more than a century before there was a computer to use it! In Boolean Algebra, instead of + and - etc. we use AND and OR to form our logic steps. For example:- x OR y = z means if x or y is present, we get z.However,x AND y = z means that both x and y need to be present to get z.We can also consider an XOR (eXclusive OR).x XOR y=z means that x or y BUT NOT BOTH must be present to get z. That's it! That's all the math you need to understand how a computer counts. Told you it was simple! How do we use this logic in the computer? We make up a little electronic circuit called a Gate with transistors and things, so we can work on our binary numbers stored in a register - just a bit of memory. (And that's the last electronics you'll hear about!). We make an AND gate, an OR gate, and an XOR gate When we add in decimal, for example 9+3 we get 2 'units' and carry one to the 10s, giving 10+2=12 Remember the binary bit values in Decimal 1,2,4,8 etc? We start at 0 then 1 in the first bit position, the 1 bit. If we add 1 + 1 binary we have to end up with 10, which has a 1 bit in the second bit position, and a 0 in the first, giving Decimal 2+0=2. This second bit position is formed by a CARRY from the first bit. To make an adder we must duplicate with a logic circuit the way we add in binary. To add 1+1 we need 3 inputs, one for each bit, and a carry in, and 2 outputs, one for the result (1 or 0), and a carry out, (1 or 0). In this case the carry input is not used. We use 2 XOR gates, 2 AND gates and an OR gate to make up the adder for 1 bit. Now we go another step, and forget about gates, because now we have a Logic Block, an ADDER. Our computer is designed by using various combinations of logic blocks. As well as the adder we might have a multiplier (a series of adders) and other components. Our ADDER block takes one bit (0 or 1) from each number to be added, plus the Carry bit (0 or 1) and produces an output of 0 or 1, and a carry of 0 or 1. A table of the input A, B and Carry, and output O and Carry, looks like this:- With no Carry in: A B c O C 0 0 0 0 01 0 0 1 00 1 0 1 01 1 0 0 1 With Carry in: A B c O C0 0 1 1 01 0 1 0 10 1 1 0 11 1 1 1 1 This is known as a Truth Table, it shows output state for any given input state. Let's add 2+3 decimal. That is 010 plus 011 binary. We will need 3 ADDER blocks for decimal bit values of 1, 2 and 4) The first ADDER takes the Least Significant Bit (decimal bit value 1) from each number. Input A will be 0, input B will be 1 with no carry - 0. From the truth table this gives an output of 1 and a carry of 0 (3rd row). BIT 1 RESULT = 1 At the same time the next ADDER (decimal bit value 2) has inputs of 1, 1 and a carry of 0, giving an output of 0 with a carry bit of 1 (4th row). BIT 2 RESULT = 0 The next ADDER (decimal bit value 4) has inputs of 0, 0 and a carry of 1, giving an output of 1 with no carry - 0 (5th row). BIT 4 RESULT = 1. So we have bits 4,2,1 as 101 or 4+1=5. It seems like a laborious way to do it, but our computer can have 64 adders or more, adding simultaneously two large numbers billions of times a second. This is where the computer scores. Next time we will get to how a computer performs more complcated operations, and it's simple!

Cleaning and Organizing Your Computer By : Super Archives

It is a good idea to think of your PC as an office. It stores files, programs, pictures. This can be compared to an actual office's files, machines and decorations. The operating system is the boss. With this image in mind, think of an office you've visited that was slow and inefficient. There were probably many different reasons for the inefficiency. This is the same with a computer. There can be many items that slow down your computer. Perhaps the one most commonly overlooked is disorganization and clutter. Disk Cleanup An office can accumulate a lot of unnecessary files, machines, and decorations. This is the same with your computer. One of the best ways to keep this clutter under control is to perform a cleaning utility periodically. In Windows this cleaning utility will be called a "disk cleanup." It removes a variety of unnecessary files depending on the options you have selected. To perform a disk cleanup on Windows XP you can simply click on "my computer" under the start menu. Than right click on your "c drive" or "hard disk" and choose properties. Than click "disk cleanup" and follow the prompts. When selecting files to clean up, or delete, Windows will give you information to help you decide. When looking over the list of file types, you would simple click on the name of the file type and read the description placed below in the description area. This will let you know if the files can be safely deleted. To select the file group just check the box next to the group name. When finished selecting press "OK" to finish. Now, performing a disk cleanup is not very time consuming, just a couple minutes, and it may save more time in the end by making your computer run faster. However, a disk cleanup should be run periodically rather than just once in a great while. One way to make this run periodically is to make it a scheduled task. This will allow your computer to run it automatically with intervals and time of day determined by you. Yet, you can always run it yourself periodically without creating a scheduled task. Add or Remove Programs The information given above can help you get rid of some unnecessary files, but you may also need to clean out some unnecessary programs as well. This can be done using the "add or remove programs" utility in Windows. This is located in the control panel and lists all of your currently installed programs along with an option to uninstall them. It is a good idea to browse through the add or remove programs utility every once in a while just to make sure that all programs are of usefulness. If there are programs listed that are no longer used, you can simply highlight the program and click the uninstall button. Windows will than begin the process to uninstall the program. In most cases, to finish uninstalling a program, it is wise to restart your computer. This will dump and files that are held temporarily. The add or remove programs utility is very useful, but not all of the programs are listed up front. Programs that come pre-installed on your computer and the Windows operating system can also be uninstalled. For instance, Outlook Express is a default e-mail program that comes with the Windows XP operating system. If you do not use this e-mail program you can uninstall it. Click "add or remove windows components" found in the add or remove programs utility and simply follow the instructions. Defragment Many offices contain a large number of files and programs that are valuable and cannot be thrown away. In fact, they may contain files that are not even used, but still have to be retained for some reason. Although these files must remain in the office, they need to be organized. This is why we create file folders that hold groups of files that are related. Than we store them in cabinets that are arranged in alphabetic order. In a computer, the files that are saved are placed on the hard drive. However, they are placed according to the time that they were saved. So, if you open a word document and save the file as "file A" and than open another document and save it as "file B", you have a "file A" placed next to "file B." This is fine, but if you open "file A" later on and save it again, than the added information is saved next to "file B." When files are broken up this way it is referred to as a fragmented file. This means that the computer must find the first part of the file and then find the second part of the file to open that one word document. This can make your computer run slower. However, Windows has created a utility that is meant to rearrange files so that they are no longer fragmented but sit right next to each other. You can run the disk defragmenter by selecting "all programs" under the start button. Next, select "accessories" and "system tools" and you will see "disk defragmenter." In fact, this is also an alternative way to select the disk cleanup mentioned earlier. Before starting the defragmenter you can analyze your hard drive to see if Windows recommends performing the defragmenter. It will either say that you should or should not defragment at this time. If you need to defragment your computer, simply hit the defragment button. It may take your computer a while to finish this task depending on the speed of your computer and the amount of defragmented files. It could take from about 15-30 minutes or more. However, you can still use the computer while the disk defragmenter is working.
